For years, Joshua and Abby Buahin dreamed of giving back to Josh's hometown in Ghana in a meaningful way. When they returned to visit, they witnessed the healthcare needs firsthand and realized they had an incredible opportunity to make a lasting difference.
Josh's sister, Dr. Priscilla Buahin, an extraordinary doctor who has dedicated her life to saving birthing mothers and children, understood the community's most urgent needs. She knew that building this hospital would transform lives and elevate the well-being of countless families.
The Buahin family generously donated their land and home to make this vision possible. What started as a dream has become Bright New Haven Hospital—a place where cost never becomes a barrier between life and death, and no one is ever turned away.

"As a doctor working in a district hospital, I frequently witnessed instances where patients couldn't access healthcare because of cost or lack of education. Patients resort to traditional, unsubstantiated methods which result in serious outcomes. The high stillbirth rate occurs because pregnant women do not access healthcare facilities for antenatal services or delivery."
"The healthcare system in rural Ghana is inadequate and inaccessible. Even with the national health insurance system, families cannot access essential services. Our healthcare system is understaffed with poor remuneration, and lacks basic equipment. These challenges, coupled with high illiteracy, lead to preventable mortalities."
"Individuals in our communities die every day because even the basics needed to sustain their lives are not available. This hospital can change everything. Our health is the world's wealth."
